Wrap-Up Administration:
The WRISC wrap-up administrator’s tasks are many and varied, beginning with start-up and continuing through project closeout, and sometimes beyond (such as monitoring open claims after the work has been completed). The work of the owner, designers, safety staff, construction managers, contractors, brokers and carriers depends upon having a single point of contact for all wrap-up information. This approach allows each professional to focus on his/her area of specialty without the distraction of OCIP administration.
Expertise is required in different aspects of the program. The single most important duty is to always represent the client’s best interests. Oversight of broker and carrier activities, keeping in mind the client’s interests, results in a high quality wrap-up.
During the organization and start-up process, WRISC can prepare contractor and administrative manuals, develop contract language, establish claims procedures, implement lines of communication and prepare budgets. Next, WRISC will support broker and carrier competition, provide risk management assistance, implement risk information management systems, track costs, savings and cash flow, prepare and present management reports, audit invoices and return premiums, assist with claims and attend and/or lead meetings. Finally, WRISC will coordinate all closeout activities as the construction activities are completed.
Some administrative tasks can lead to additional savings. Changes in the insurance market may afford opportunities to reduce costs. Re-marketing coverage mid-term may result in savings not originally planned or envisioned.
